"Getting involved" can sometimes be reduced to volunteering or serving, and while these are undoubtedly important to the life of our parish, there’s more to being a part of St. Philip’s than just “signing up” for something.
At the most profound level, getting involved is about developing a relationship with Our Lord, Who has made Himself accessible to us in the Sacraments, especially in the Holy Eucharist. Everything else we do here at St. Philip’s is oriented in the fact that Our Lord is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament.
The Blessed Sacrament is also what unites us into a community, the Body of Christ. That means we’re not alone in our pilgrimage on earth; as members of the Universal Church, we are dedicated to helping each other get to Heaven. At St. Philip’s, our relationships with others in the parish community help to support us in our journey of faith. Look for ways to interact with others through parish functions, whether spiritual, formational, or social.
Finally, a strong relationship with Our Eucharistic Lord flows over into a desire to do what He does: give of oneself. Service to others is an important part of our mission at St. Philip’s, and we have many opportunities for service in our parish, local community, and beyond. One of these opportunities may fit your unique gifts and talents for service; one of them may also be a ministry that can help you with your unique challenges in life. CLICK HERE to find out.
