"Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of the one who sent me and to finish his work."
This text is from today's Gospel reading, and has a particular significance for us in Lent, a season characterized by fasting and abstinence from favorite foods and activities. Jesus declares that His food, the true support and nourishment of His life, is the will of God. He proves it by spending 40 days in the desert alone and fasting. During Lent, we try to imitate Christ's example and clear away things that distract us from what should keep us going: doing the will of God in our lives.
