DESCRIPTION This part-time position includes responsibility for the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation) in the nine-month process from mid-August through Easter and mystagogia, as well as supervising a spring inquiry class and occasional summer offerings.
Planning, executing, and coordinating RCIA sessions
Recruiting and training competent catechists, teachers, sponsors, and team members
Recruiting and training facilitators for Breaking Open the Word on Sundays
Maintaining accurate files on all Catechumens and Candidates
Referring those in need of annulments to the parish Annulment coordinator and keeping up with candidates as this need is completed in the future
Collaborating with the Pastor and liturgical officials to ensure proper celebration of the Rites
Collaborating with diocesan officials in the catechetical and liturgy offices
Maintains contact with the newly-initiated and seeks to integrate them into the parish
QUALIFICATIONS
Practicing, fully-initiated Catholic
If married, in a union recognized as valid by the Catholic Church
Experience in RCIA
Related educational qualifications (Master’s degree preferred)
Relevant pastoral and/or teaching experience
Enthusiasm for the authentic teachings of the Church as expressed in magisterial documents, especially the Catechism of the Catholic Church
Computer literacy
Collaborative working style
Pastoral solicitude for Catechumens and Candidates that continues after the RCIA
