Description St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church is a rapidly growing parish in the heart of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex; it is home to some 3,100 registered families. Plans are underway for a new parish church campus. The Assistant Director of Music will report to and work with the Director of Music to assist in developing a growing music program. The Assistant Director will serve as the primary director of the High School Youth Choir. The ideal candidate should be a practicing Catholic who seeks the good of the Church in his/her daily life, possesses a strong knowledge of the Roman Catholic liturgy, and works well with young people.
Compensation Approx. $20,000/year; $36/hr.; Benefits as per diocesan policy
Qualifications B.M. in music education required. Middle school/high school teaching experience of 5+ years; choral experience of 5+ years.
Duties
Oversees/Directs the High School Youth Choir (September-May)
Attends weekly Adult Choir rehearsal (September – Corpus Christi)
Sings in the Adult Choir (September-Corpus Christi)
Serves as head cantor for at least two weekend Masses
Coordinates the monthly volunteer cantor schedule
Creates choir binders for accompanist/organist
Directs the Adult Choir during scheduled absences of the Director of Music
Sing for weddings and funerals per arrangements with the Director of Music for additional stipend
