DESCRIPTION This position will facilitate services to assist the domestic Church by offering educational programs, events, services, and resources designed to promote an authentic Catholic vision of marriage, human sexuality, and family life; and to foster the universal call to holiness among young adults in the parish. This position is part-time (18 hours) and reports to the Pastor (or his designate).
DUTIES
Plan, publicize, implement, and evaluate various programs and presentations to promote the authentic Catholic vision of marriage, human sexuality and family life among parish families
Plan, publicize, implement, and evaluate similar events directed towards young married families
Collaborate with the Director of Youth Ministry and Elementary Director of Religious Education to provide similar opportunities for parents of youth/children in Religious Formation
Plan, implement, and evaluate various catechetical, recreational, and spiritual/liturgical events for young adults, building upon current monthly Holy Hour/Happy Hour and Dinner and Scripture Evenings plus occasional retreats, recreational, and social events
Collaborate with relevant Diocesan ministries and programs
Remain current in theology and catechetics, the teachings of the Church (especially the Catechism and other magisterial texts) pertinent to the mission of the position.
Manifest genuine pastoral and prayerful concern for parishioners’ spiritual well-being
Draft correspondence, publicity, and other documents
Supervise and recruit volunteers in order to build on current efforts such as Young Marrieds group, Daddy/Daughter Dance, Mother/Son event, speakers, small groups, and other events.
Provide departmental financial and budgetary management as needed
Be available for night and weekend hours
REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in related field
Relevant experience in pastoral ministry preferred
Excellent communication, organizational, marketing, and administrative skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office software; ability to attract and effectively supervise volunteers.
A Catholic who assents to, lives, and communicates the teachings of the Catholic Church. If married, living in a union recognized as valid by the Church.
Able to work well on a team
