Essential Functions of the Director of Development are: Position Summary/Purpose: The Director of Development is the chief fundraising staff member for St. Philip Catholic Church. In collaboration with the Pastor and other assigned staff, the Director of Development plans and implements all fund raising strategies.
The Director is responsible for implementing all fundraising initiatives including but not limited to growing regular monthly giving, an ongoing capital campaign, and major gifts and planned giving. This position manages and oversees the use of fund raising software, analyzes and reports data and participates in the design and execution of special events.
The Director of Development maintains an active donor recognition and stewardship program to assure accountability and growth of relationships with funders. This position facilitates the identification, cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors. The Director will also develop annual stewardship programs that encourage gifts of time, talent and treasure.

Job Duties Leadership and Planning
Actively works to create a comprehensive development plan for cultivation and solicitation of support from individuals in the St. Philip community bearing, in mind the Parish focus on moving to a new campus.
Crafts a major donor campaign in conjunction with the Pastor and Finance Council.
Participates in the planning and execution of special events including donor recognition opportunities.
Engages staff and volunteers for assistance with events.
Research, Cultivation & Solicitation
Cultivates donor relationships at all levels and works to raise the giving levels of all donors.
Researches prospects and establishes priorities for solicitation.
Manages and executes strategies for cultivating and soliciting donations.
Networks within local community organizations.
Contacts potential donors and secures on-going financial support for the Parish.
Builds and implements annual stewardship programs that encourage gifts of time, talent and treasure.
Completes prospect research for major gift donors and other sources to support parish fundraising efforts.
Implements plans for maintaining a large base of smaller, annual individual donors.
Recruits, trains, manages, supervises, and acknowledges volunteers to assist with development projects.
Monitors all donor information and provides statistical analysis to parish leadership.
Develops reports and documents for leadership and decision making purposes.
Regularly performs needs/trend analysis and makes projections for future giving.
Assures that databases are properly managed and current.
Identifies and recommends fund raising software as needed.
Ensures complete security and confidentiality of all donor information.
Ensures correspondence (including but not limited to letters of appreciation) is strategic, appropriate and timely.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years of demonstrated non-profit development experience. Must have a significant record of success in fundraising including the demonstrated ability to solicit and close major gifts from individuals.
High level of technical proficiency with all computer tools; the ability to select and maintain donor database software; experience with fundraising database software; a working knowledge of internal and external communication technology and social media; willingness to learn new software and programs.
Catholic in Good Standing; if married, in a union recognized as valid by the Church; a solid knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the Catholic Church and its teachings and culture.
Must be current with Fort Worth Diocesan Safe Environment Program and background check requirements or be able to comply with said requirements before beginning employment.
Ability to understand the role of individuals and groups in philanthropy and the ability to manage complex organizational detail.
Ability to take on responsibility, work independently and be flexible in a changing environment.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Some occasional travel may be required.
Working Conditions
Position is part time (25 hours per week). Occasional night and weekend hours may be required throughout the year.
