Although Fr. Hawkins has ministered as a Roman Catholic priest for 29 years, his dedication to the service of God began as a member of the Church of England, where he received ordination as an Episcopalian clergyman in 1961. After serving in England and America for 30 years, Fr. Hawkins converted to Catholicism with his parishioners (St. Mary the Virgin in Arlington) in the 1990s, and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest. He retired from pastoral duties in 2012. Fr. Allan Hawkins has continued to serve the people of God through his retirement by celebrating Sunday Masses at St. Philip's for the past several years. The gift of his priestly ministry to our parish has been a source of many blessings.

Our parish is honoring Fr. Hawkins through a commemorative chalice and paten (pictured below) to be used at Mass at St. Philip. Each time our parish celebrates Mass with this chalice, we will remember Fr. Hawkins at the altar where he has so faithfully offered his ministry.
