A generous donor has given a crucifix to our parish to dignify the sanctuary of our new church. The cross is inspired by a 13th century masterpiece but is a unique artwork, created by artisans of Albl Oberammergau in Germany. The cross is carved from wood and beautifully painted. According to an ancient iconographic tradition, the complete sculpture will include two accompanying statues of Our Lady and St. John, who were both present at the crucifixion of Jesus. These have not been donated yet, and will be ordered as part of the later phase of the church.
The model pictured below is a smaller version that was made for our parish as part of the design process; the completed crucifix is shown above and is life-size!
