Updated 1/13/2022
Following the guidance of our Diocese, St. Philip’s is observing these safety precautions for attending Mass. We continue to offer live-streaming for those who still need to remain at home.
Required Precautions for Mass
· Sanitize hands on entering the buildings
· Maintain 3 feet of distance between yourself and others
Optional Precautions for Mass
· Face masks are now optional. Our volunteers, including those distributing Holy Communion, will be masked when they serve.
Holy Communion
Holy Communion will be distributed either in the hand or on the tongue.
Am I Obliged to Attend Mass?
Our bishop has now reminded us (Pastoral Letter of January 13, 2022) of the importance of fulfilling our grave obligation to attend Holy Mass on Sundays and Days of Obligation, unless any of the three criteria apply on an individual basis:
· Those who feel sick, or have symptoms of COVID or any contagious virus;
· Those who care for a vulnerable persons, and are concerned about infecting their care recipients;
· Those who do not feel safe attending Mass because of ongoing fears of contracting the virus.

St. Philip's offers live-streaming of Mass at our parish as follows:

"While we know that viewing the celebration of Mass by means of live-streaming or television does not substitute for actual presence and participation at Mass, we also have learned that providing for live-streaming of Mass is a very consoling service for those who are unable to be physically present for Mass" (Bishop Michael Olson, Pastoral Letter of 20 May, 2021).
