I have some great news to share with you – after a lot of hard work and your powerful prayers, just this Friday (April 29, 2022) we closed on the sale of our old church. It will be the new home of a growing Korean Baptist congregation moving up from Irving. The proceeds from this sale will take care of a large part of the debt for Phase I of our new campus, enabling us to move forward in our building project with greater freedom.
Another piece of good news is that our new pipe organ (currently under construction in Canada) is set to arrive later this year in time for our first Christmas in the new church. The modest pipe organ we used in the old church was appropriate for that space, but could not fill the magnificent vaults of our new church or its future expansion. Our new instrument is custom-designed to fit and complement our new church. As you know, the Second Vatican Council reaffirmed the pipe organ as the right instrument for the Catholic Mass, evoking the divine like no other instrument can, and, in the words of former pope, reminding us of the “immensity and the magnificence of God.”
And finally, I want to let you know that that our former pipe organ has a new home as well. It is currently crated up on a ship crossing the Atlantic to Monsignor Francis’ home diocese in Ghana, where it will be installed in the cathedral there. I had a call from the Archbishop himself, expressing gratitude in the most enthusiastic terms. Apparently they had a pipe organ in the cathedral in years past, and are so very thrilled to have another one to support the music and liturgy there.
Please join me in offering sincere gratitude to Almighty God for these and so many other blessings!
