General Position Summary: Part-time position (18 hours/week) responsible for the coordination and support of St. Philip outreach programs such as Ministers of Care, Friendly Visitor, Stephen Ministry, Prison Ministry, annual Giving Garland, etc. Works with individuals in need through situation assessment, bridging to other service organizations and/or recommendations for direct support through St. Philip tithe resources.
Principal Accountabilities:
Coordinates individual outreach activity – including meeting with parishioners in need of financial help, ascertaining needs and deciding what help the parish can provide for them.
Drives annual Giving Garland Program including working with Catholic Charities, CCA, Salvation Army and people in our area in need. Coordinate through lead volunteer and significant volunteer assistance the collection, assembly (as necessary) and distribution of 900+ children’s gifts and 300+ baskets for our seniors and those in care facilities.
Coordinate Minister of Care Program, including leading and directing participants in their ministry; planning and facilitating the quarterly meeting; work with Deacon Ramiro to provide spiritual guidance, direction and continuing education to participants. Handle calls for Minister of Care assistance; manage e-mails of new contacts.
Coordinate the Stephen Ministry Program, including leading and directing the Ministers in program; running the monthly meeting, providing continuing education & meeting with new care receivers. Recruit and train new Stephen Ministers.
Work with Stewardship Committee in volunteer recruitment efforts, including support of annual ministry fair.
Varying degrees of liaison to and direct support activity of additional St. Philip ministries such as Prison Ministry, Friendly Visitor Program, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Martha’s, Women’s Club, Men’s Club, Spice of Life, Friendship, Food and Fun.
Education and Experience Preferred:
Catholic in Good Standing; if married, in a union recognized as valid by the Church; a solid knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the Catholic Church and its teachings and culture.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required, Social Work or Catholic Church experience a plus
Previous experience in Counseling a plus
