Coordinator/Assistant Director of Family Life For College and Young Adults
DESCRIPTION: This position will facilitate ministry to college students and young adults by offering educational programs, events, services, and resources designed to foster the universal call to holiness among young adults and collegians in the parish. This position is part-time (8 hours) and reports to the Director of Family Life initially and ultimately to the Pastor (or his designate).
DUTIES
Plan, implement, and evaluate various catechetical, recreational, and spiritual/liturgical events for young adults, building upon and expanding the current monthly Holy Hour/Happy Hour and Dinner and Scripture Evenings plus occasional retreats, recreational, and social events
Develop a ministry to college students at NCTC and MSU Flower Mound campuses.
Collaborate with the other formation staff to help foster integration of young adults and collegians in the broader parish
Collaborate with and foster involvement in relevant Diocesan ministries and programs
Remain current in theology and catechetics, the teachings of the Church (especially the Catechism and other magisterial texts) pertinent to the mission of the position.
Manifest genuine pastoral and prayerful concern for parishioners’ spiritual well-being
Draft correspondence, publicity, and other documents
Provide departmental financial and budgetary management as needed
Be available for night and weekend hours
REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Relevant experience in pastoral ministry preferred
Excellent communication, organizational, marketing, and administrative skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office software; ability to attract and effectively supervise volunteers.
A Catholic who assents to, lives, and communicates the teachings of the Catholic Church. If married, living in a union recognized as valid by the Church.
Able to work well on a team
Able to pass all Diocesan Safe Environment requirements including background checks before a formal offer of employment can be extended.
