Description St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church is a rapidly growing parish in the heart of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex; it is home to some 3,100 registered families. Plans are underway for a new parish church campus. New church building will eventually house a first-class organ. The Assistant Organist will report to and work with the Director of Music to assist in developing a growing music program. The ideal candidate should be a practicing Catholic who seeks the good of the Church in his/her daily life and possesses a strong knowledge of the Roman Catholic liturgy.
Compensation Approx. $20,000/year; $35/hr.; Benefits as per diocesan policy
Qualifications B.M. in organ required or the ability to demonstrate proficiency equivalent thereof.
Duties
Play for two Masses during the choral year (9:30 am Choir Mass + 1 cantor/organ mass or 5:30 pm High School Choir Mass)
Play for Feast Day/Holy Day Masses throughout the year per arrangements with the Director of Music
Accompanies the choir at the 9:30 am Sunday Mass and Feast Day Masses during the choral year
Accompanies the weekly choir rehearsal for the Adult Choir and/or High School Youth Choir per arrangements with the Director of Music
Provide organ prelude and/or postlude per arrangements with the Director of Music
Play for weddings and funerals per arrangements with the Director of Music for additional stipend
Substitute organist during scheduled absences of the Director of Music
