Sr. Mary of the Adorer Missionary Sisters of the Poor will be present after all Masses next weekend (April 14/15) to describe the important work of her community in Tanzania and to ask for your assistance.
The mission of the Adorer Missionary Sisters of the Poor is two-fold: 1. To adore Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament and to promote Eucharistic Adoration 2. To serve the poor especially the most vulnerable, children orphaned due to HIV/AIDS
HIV/AIDS has claimed the lives of many young parents, leaving behind thousands of orphaned children. Africa has 17 million orphans due to HIV, Tanzania has 3.6 million, the Catholic Diocese of Moshi has 220,000, and the parish of the Sisters has over 700 orphans.
In September 2013 the Sisters began ministry to the orphaned children and since then have welcomed 320 children to their convent. These children have no one to support them, which is why the Sisters are committed to caring for them and ask for your support to do so.
The dormitories for the children have become congested, and an extra dormitory is needed to accommodate 47 children who otherwise do not have a roof over their heads.
Please be generous next weekend in your response to Sr. Mary’s appeal. Our parish will tithe 10% of the offertory collection on April 14/15 to the Adorer Missionary Sisters of the Poor, so we invite you to add a bit more to the basket or put in a special envelope to support this cause.
