This training is required by the Diocese of Fort Worth for any adult volunteer.
Bishop Vann wants all parishes to promote a culture of safety--where all are attentive to and help us provide a warm, safe, inclusive parish experience--for all who worship with us, are served by our ministries, and find help in time of need.
The initial training session is 3 hours. Volunteers are further required to attend a 1½ hour refresher training once every three years subsequent. At these sessions, you will learn what to watch for to prevent a possible abusive situation. You will complete a criminal background form that will be processed by the Diocese, sign a Code of Conduct expected by all ministers, watch a series of videos, and engage in discussion after the video segments. Training may be done at St. Philip or any other parish in the Fort Worth Diocese.
