What are Building Bucks?
Various businesses and vendors sell their gift cards to St. Philip's at a discounted rate (for example, Bari's Pizza and Pasta sells the parish a $20 gift card for only $16 - a %20 discount!).
We sell these gift cards to parishioners at face value (you would purchase that $20 Bari's gift card from St. Philip's Building Bucks for $20).
The difference is a profit for St. Philip's (by purchasing a $20 gift card for Bari's instead of paying the restaurant directly, you've just raised $4 for the parish!).
The Building Bucks program is a parish fundraising initiative that functions like a scrip program. By purchasing gift cards from St. Philip's to do your everyday shopping (and gift-giving), our parish receives a percentage profit.
Here's how it works:
Imagine how much you could raise if you did all of your shopping with Building Bucks (we offer an impressive array of vendors!).
Can I use a credit card to purchase Building Bucks?
We accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) and debit cards. Certain credit cards can cost St. Philip's up to 4% for processing while the profit for some gift cards ranges from 2.5 to 30%. When you use a credit card that charges us 4% for a gift card that only gives us 2.5%, the profit is negated. Please try to use cash or checks whenever possible to help St. Philip the most!
